What we collect and why
Enquiries and booking requests. When you use the contact form or the booking request form we collect the details you enter: your name, email address, phone number, and the information you give about your event, such as the date, venue, event type and the services or budget you have in mind. We use this to reply to you, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, to deliver the service. The forms are handled by the FormLayer plugin on this site and the details are stored in our website database and sent to our email inbox.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address so we can send you occasional updates about our projects, equipment and tips. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time.
Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs, which record the IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of each visit. We use these only to keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
Cookies and consent
The site shows a cookie banner when you first visit and records the choice you make. Essential cookies that the site needs to function are always set. Any analytics or marketing cookies are set only if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the banner.
Video content on this site from YouTube and TikTok loads only when you click to play it. Once you do, those services may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the site and the business: our web hosting provider, the email service that delivers form notifications and newsletters, and, where you have accepted them, analytics providers. Each of these processes data on our instructions. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiry and booking details are kept for as long as we need them to handle your request and to keep records of the events we deliver, after which they are deleted. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are rotated by our hosting provider on a short cycle.
Your rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. To exercise any of these rights, email info@backlineconcepts.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, access to the administration area is restricted and protected against brute-force attempts, and only staff who need to handle enquiries can see them. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
